Historical Monuments
In Felipe Carrillo Puerto is found the
Temple of the Talking Cross, which had great influence in
unifying the rebels of the Caste Wars, and the Cultural
Center that dates from the last century, now reconstructed.
In Tihosuco, Tepich and other localities exist the remains
of churches and convents that go back to colonial times.
In Chunyaxche, next to a lagoon of the same name, is an
important archaeological zone that connects, through channels,
with the coast. Although they are, at the moment, not exploited
commercially, there seems to be tourist potential there,
with beaches, coralline reefs and lagoons, like Noh Bec
and Kaná.
